A Simple Van Life Upgrade: The Magnetic Lights I Use in my Roadtrek

Living and traveling in a camper van means making the most of every inch of space. I’ve learned that sometimes the simplest upgrades make the biggest difference. One little improvement I’ve come to appreciate in my Roadtrek is having convenient lighting where I need it, especially when I’m camping and moving around the van after dark.

The Magnetic Light I Use

I use MCGOR 14.7-inch amber magnetic LED lights in my van. They come in a two-pack, and there are two features I particularly appreciate.

First, they have motion sensors, which is a handy feature when I’m moving around the van. The lights can turn on when motion is detected, making them useful when I need light without having to reach for a switch. For a small living space like a camper van, that kind of flexibility is a real plus. I use them on the floorboard by the beds, in the closet and on the stairs entering the van.

Second, they’re dimmable. Sometimes I want more light to see what I’m doing; other times, I prefer a softer glow. Since they have 5 dimmable levels I’m able to adjust the brightness in different situations or spaces in my van.

The lights have a built-in magnet to stick on metals and also come with adhesive magnets to stick on a wall. Very easy to install. And they’re USB rechargeable.

My goal is to offer practical ideas and honest experiences to help other travelers decide what might work for them.
